Greenleaf Village Kick-Off Build
![]()
The Dallas division of KB Home developed a unique public-private partnership with American CityVisa (led by former HUD secretary Henry Cisneros), Habitat for Humanity and the Dallas Housing Authority to create Greenleaf Village in West Dallas, an area in dire need of revitalization. This landmark community is in close proximity to many hospitals, thus creating a community where hospital workers can live close to work. The project had already broken ground, but it would be several months before homes would be built. KB Home came to The Powell Group to create a way to keep Greenleaf Village top of mind with its target audience, drive sales inquiries and position KB Home as a community leader.

The Powell Group developed a 24-hour build, an event in which the Greenleaf Village model homes were built with around-the-clock workers, to keep the community and KB Home top-of-mind. Henry Cisneros, as well as KB Home and Habitat for Humanity representatives, were on site for early morning television coverage. This event introduced the public to the community by providing them with a first glimpse of the KB Home model homes as they were being built.

KB Home received numerous sales inquiries after the stories aired. All the homes by KB Home quickly sold once community development began. Secured media coverage in local print and broadcast outlets, including a front page story in the Metro section of The Dallas Morning News, Dallas Business Journal, all local national televison affiliates, KDAF-TV (WB), and KRLD-AM. Established KB Home as one of the innovators behind this unique community and partnership.
